Plan and control AI-assisted video edits from source footage to approved masters. Includes edit decisions, attempt limits, temporal QC, recovery, and delivery evidence.
A generative video edit can look convincing in one frame and fail everywhere that matters. A face drifts during a turn. Fingers lose contact with a product. Packaging text changes. The audio slips. A timed-out paid job gets submitted twice. A clean export is posted before anyone checks the whole clip.
AI Video Editing turns that work into a controlled production job. It starts with the source boundary, deliverable specs, rights, likeness consent, external-processing approval, brand rules, preservation requirements, and separate authority to inspect, upload, spend, edit, approve, or publish. Missing evidence stays missing instead of becoming an assumption.
The workflow produces a source manifest and a source-bound edit decision list. It chooses conventional editing for cuts, pacing, captions, audio, and exports; generative tools for bounded transformations such as restyling, background replacement, package replacement, inpainting, or motion transfer; and a hybrid path when the job needs both. Model selection is based on current input limits, preservation behavior, data terms, cost, and output controls rather than the model name.
Every paid or remote call gets its own operation and attempt ID, input digest, source range, prompt, parameters, cost ceiling, output path, stop condition, and acceptance rule. Retries change one cause at a time. After a timeout, the workflow reconciles the remote job, output paths, and checksums before another credit is spent.
Quality control covers the exact exported file. It checks the full segment and difficult frames for identity, anatomy, motion, contact, masks, edges, reflections, shadows, text, logos, products, continuity, and lip sync. It also checks captions, audio, duration, dimensions, frame rate, codecs, color tags, file size, checksum, platform safe areas, and representative playback. A thumbnail and a successful encoder exit are not enough.
The package includes a reusable edit contract for intake, source inventory, edit decisions, generative attempts, QC, and delivery. It does not supply an editor, model account, API key, media license, likeness consent, brand approval, or publishing authority. It cannot claim a visual review when the media cannot be played or rendered.
Version 1.0.0 was evaluated on 28 July 2026 through Codex CLI with gpt-5.6-sol in 12 fresh read-only contexts. Across three blind comparison cases, the candidate scored 100, compared with 74.58 for the same agent without the skill and 85.83 for the exact OpenMontage video-edit skill. It passed every case and led the comparison arms by 25.42 and 14.17 points overall. The cases covered a mixed-source social edit, a bounded product-package restyle, and recovery from a timed-out paid batch. This evaluation measures the supplied cases; it does not prove that a real video was edited or delivered.
